Mt. Usu Ropeway

A one-way trip up is a 6-minute journey.
At the summit there are two observation areas. From the “Lake Toya Observation Deck” on the right side, you have a superior view of Mt.Showa-shinzan and Lake Toya far below. A 7-minute walk to the left brings you to the “Usu Crater Basin Observation Deck” from which you can observe the crater that caused a major eruption in 1977 and the rising steam from its vents. Be sure to take in this experience that lets you actively feel the breath of the earth.
